Sengkang condo fire: 4 people taken to hospital, 50 evacuated
The fire was likely caused by an electrical source in the bedroom.
Four people were sent to the hospital after a fire broke out in a residential condominium unit in Sengkang on Apr. 4.
In a Facebook post on Apr. 4, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the blaze at about 2:10pm at 3 Rivervale Link.
The address is the location of The Rivervale condominium.
The fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical source in the bedroom.
50 people evacuated
The incident prompted the evacuation of around 50 residents from the building.
Black smoke was seen emitting from a third-floor unit when firefighters arrived.
The fire, which involved a bedroom, was extinguished using a water jet.
Four occupants of the affected unit had evacuated before SCDF arrived.
They were later assessed for smoke inhalation and taken to Singapore General Hospital.
Three of them were from the affected unit, while one was from a neighbouring unit.
The public is advised to take precautions against electrical fires, such as avoiding overloading power outlets, switching off appliances when not in use, and not leaving devices charging unattended for long periods.
