Bus wait time estimates affected again, LTA investigating technical issues, services unaffected

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is investigating technical issues affecting the Expected Time of Arrival (ETA) system for buses, it said in an Apr. 18, 2026 Facebook post.

LTA added that though this has "led to inaccurate bus timings and long wait times being displayed at bus stops and on mobile apps", bus operations are not affected and all services continue to operate at their usual frequencies.

"Our engineers and ETA system contractors are working to rectify the issue as soon as possible," said LTA.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

Bus timings

As of 5:50pm on Apr. 18, checks by Mothership on the MyTransport.SG app showed that wait time estimates at a bus stop could stretch to nearly 40 minutes.

One online commenter suggested checking the timing for bus 268 and claimed two buses would arrive together at times.

Another commented that bus 169 reportedly showed up earlier than its wait time estimate.

Previous issues

This comes after earlier reports mentioned that the issue with the ETA system, which provides bus wait time estimates, was first detected on Jan. 10, 2026, and more inaccuracies were subsequently detected over the course of the week.

LTA had previously announced that it would be resetting its Expected Time of Arrival (ETA) system, which provides bus wait time estimates, from 8pm on Jan. 21.

This was because preliminary investigations had found that there was an intermittent transmission issue with the on-board systems for some buses, which resulted in missing bus arrival predictions for a small proportion of bus services.
