Australian man, 63, allegedly shouted profanities & threw shoes in plane after takeoff from Changi Airport
The incident occurred on Mar. 19 at around 6:40am.
A 63-year-old Australian man will be charged on Apr. 2 after he allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner on a flight departing from Changi Airport.
In a press release on Apr. 1, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said the man had shouted profanities and threw his shoes onboard a plane on Mar. 19 at around 6:40am.
Plane returned to the airport
The man, who was allegedly intoxicated, allegedly carried out his actions about 20 minutes after the plane took off.
Despite efforts by the cabin crew to calm him, he allegedly continued to act aggressively towards a crew member and had to be restrained.
The pilot decided to return the aircraft to Changi Airport, where officers from the Airport Police Division arrested the man upon landing.
To be charged
The man will be charged for behaving in a disorderly manner towards a crew member.
If found guilty, he may be fined up to S$100,000, or jailed up to five years, or both.
