A 38-year-old repeat drug offender brought packets of drugs with him to the State Courts.

To evade detection, he hid them in his anus.

But he was later caught in an X-ray scan, CNA reported.

Muhammad Iskandar Shah Jaffar was sentenced on Mar. 27 to seven years and six months' jail, along with three strokes of the cane.

He had previously been admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre for drug consumption offences.

Court mention

The incident took place on Sep. 17, 2025.

Iskandar was due to attend a court mention, but realised he had packets of methamphetamine and diamorphine on him.

Afraid of getting caught while passing through the security gantry at the State Courts, he decided to hide them.

He packed the items in plastic and taped them before inserting the bundle into his anus.

During the hearing, his bail was revoked and he was remanded.

X-ray scan

At the Singapore Prisons later that day, Iskandar underwent an X-ray scan.

Officers suspected that he had contraband concealed in his body.

The next day, prison officers recovered a black bundle from Iskandar's faecal matter after he defecated, CNA reported.

The bundle contained a lighter, a court mention slip, a piece of paper and multiple packets, including substances later analysed to contain diamorphine, a Class A controlled drug.

He had intended to consume the drugs, according to investigations.

Other offences

Prior to this, Iskandar had committed other offences, CNA reported.

In October 2024, he fled from police during an encounter and abandoned a vehicle, which was later found to contain drug-related paraphernalia and substances including diamorphine and methamphetamine.

He also jumped into a canal to escape.

In January 2025, he was also involved in the theft of a delivery van, which he drove away after finding it unattended with the keys left in the ignition.

Several items, including a mobile phone and cashcard, were taken from the vehicle, according to CNA.

Separately, Iskandar failed to report for mandatory urine tests a total of 88 times since Feb. 14, 2024.

This was while he was under a five-year supervision period which was due to end on Feb. 13, 2029.

Iskandar skipped the tests as he had relapsed into drug use and did not want to get caught.

He was subsequently arrested on May 7, 2025, and urine tests confirmed the presence of drugs.

Charges

Iskandar pleaded guilty to six charges which were mostly drug-related, including possessing diamorphine and methamphetamine, and consuming a specified drug.

He also pleaded guilty to the theft of a van, for which he received a one-year driving ban.

According to charge sheets viewed by Mothership, seven other charges, which were also mostly drug-related, were taken into consideration for sentencing.
