Jail.
A 50-year-old man who pointed a pair of scissors at his neighbours in Sengkang during a conflict was recently sentenced to 46 weeks' jail.
According to Shin Min Daily News, Lim pleaded guilty to four charges and six other charges were taken into consideration during sentencing.
Charge sheets and court documents seen by Mothership showed that Lim Han Khim faced 10 charges, including theft, assault, verbal abuse and criminal intimidation.
2024 incident
Among them, this also includes an incident that occurred after 1am at Block 463A Sengkang West Way on Oct. 31, 2024.
Before this, on the afternoon of Oct. 30, 2024, Lim had visited his friend living in the same block and the pair consumed alcohol together.
At 1am on Oct. 31, 2024, Lim's neighbour heard shouting and went to that floor to inform Lim that the shouting had woken his children up.
Lim and his friend then came out of the unit and began throwing punches at the neighbour, who threw punches in return.
Upon witnessing this, a passerby called the police around 1:23am.
Pointed scissors at neighbours
Following this, the neighbour's wife arrived at the scene but was unable to stop the fight.
The neighbour then waited for the police at his sister's unit in the same block.
When the neighbour saw a police car downstairs, he went with his wife, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, to inform Lim and his friend that the police had arrived.
Lim then stepped out of the unit with a pair of scissors in his hand and pointed them at the neighbour and his brother-in-law, with the sharp points of the scissors facing downwards.
This saw Lim being arrested at around 1:30 am on the same day, and his scissors were seized by the police.
The neighbour, whose children were woken up, sustained injuries but declined to be conveyed to the hospital and did not seek medical treatment.
Other offences
In addition, between Nov. 3, 2023 and Oct. 31, 2024, Lim also caused disturbances to other neighbours, including theft and committing acts that could endanger their personal safety.
According to Section 506 of the Penal Code 1871, whoever commits the offence of criminal intimidation shall be punished with jail for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
