MPA searching for man who went missing after boat collision off Southern Islands
Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) is searching for a man who went overboard from a pleasure craft (i.e. a privately-owned vessel not for commercial use) after it collided with a supply vessel off the Southern Islands at about 4:15am on Mar. 27.
There were three people on board the vessel at the time, among which two have been rescued and are safe, the MPA said.
All those who were on board the supply vessel have been accounted for, with no injuries reported.
As for the missing man, MPA has deployed a patrol craft to conduct search and rescue operations, together with assets from the Police Coast Guard and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Marine Division.
MPA added that it is in contact with the man's next-of-kin, and has been providing the necessary support.
Navigational broadcasts have also been issued for vessels in the vicinity to keep a lookout.
