MUIS working with MFA to maintain regular contact with S'porean students in Middle East
Its Student Liaison Officers have been offering support and guidance during these "uncertain times", MUIS said.
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) said in a Mar. 2 statement it is maintaining regular contact with Singaporean students in Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Student Liaison Officers in Cairo, Egypt and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MFA) overseas missions, have been offering support and guidance during these "uncertain times", MUIS said.
Parents and/or guardians of students in these countries can contact MUIS at 6359 1199 or [email protected] should they have further queries.
"Let us continue to pray for the safety of our students and fellow Singaporeans, and for peace to return to the Middle East and all troubled regions of the world," MUIS said.
Singapore's MFA has issued a travel advisory advising Singaporean travellers to avoid transit through the region.
Following the Israeli-U.S. strike against Iran on Feb. 28, blasts have been reported across multiple countries across the Middle East, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Explosions have also been reported at Dubai International Airport in the UAE, CNN reported.
