A traffic police (TP) officer was injured while arresting a man who failed to stop at a roadblock in Sembawang on Mar. 1

Photos on social media showed the man in t-shirt, shorts and slippers surrounded by police officers.

Another photo showed a Mazda car with the Tribecar logo on its rear windscreen.

Litany of offences

The 46-year-old man did not comply when an officer signalled for his car to stop for a check at a roadblock in Canberra Walk towards Canberra Link on Mar. 1 at 11:10pm, police said.

The driver sped off and traffic police officers gave chase.

The car skidded along Canberra Crescent towards Canberra View and the suspect fled on foot.

He put up a struggle during his arrest, but was subdued and detained by officers.

A traffic police officer sustained minor injuries in the process.

The suspect also sustained minor injuries, but refused to be taken to hospital.

He was arrested for reckless driving, driving while disqualified, suspected drink driving, cheating and suspected drug-related offences after he tried to flee, the police added.

His suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

Investigations are ongoing.
