S'pore man, 45, allegedly attacks security officer with knife near Geylang Serai Market
The man subsequently dropped the knife and was subdued by members of the public.
A man was recently caught on video attacking a male security officer on the night of Mar. 9, 2026.
Following this, a 45-year-old man who allegedly pointed a knife at a male security officer was arrested.
This reportedly occurred near Geylang Bazaar, according to the Telegram group "SGFOLLOWSALL".
Based on video footage posted in the group, the incident occurred before 11pm, although dashcam timings can be inaccurate. An officer could be seen waiting next to a red traffic light.
Attack
In the incident captured on a car's dashcam, a man in a light blue shirt can be see approaching the officer from behind while holding a long object.

When the traffic light turned green, the man then put his arm around the officer and appeared to be holding the object against the officer.

Following this, the officer could be seen resisting the man as the car drove past.
Other officers
In a separate image, a man wearing a light blue shirt was at a pedestrian traffic light with his hands behind his back.
He appeared to be being taken away by three police officers.

Responding to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that at about 9:50pm on Mar. 9, 2026, the police received calls for assistance at Geylang Serai Market.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 45-year-old man had allegedly pointed a knife at a male security officer.
The man, who subsequently dropped the knife and was subdued by members of the public, was arrested for criminal intimidation, and a knife was seized as a case exhibit.
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that on Mar. 9 at 10:50pm, SCDF received a call for assistance along Sims Avenue.
SCDF conveyed a person to Changi General Hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
