Johor man arrested after alleged fight with ex-wife, hangs onto moving car & tested positive for drugs

He lost his grip and fell onto the asphalt while the vehicle continued to move.

A man in Johor, Malaysia was arrested after he allegedly argued with his ex-wife and hung onto her moving car on Feb. 28.

In a Facebook statement on Mar. 1, Seri Alam district police chief Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that the man was arrested and later tested positive for ketamine.

The incident occurred in Seri Alam area at around 3:50pm.

His friends had also allegedly robbed the woman and broke her car windows.

Hangs onto moving car, falls onto the road

A video of the incident shared on the Community Roda Johor page on Feb. 28 showed the man clinging to the exterior of a blue moving vehicle as it travels along a public road.

At one point in the video, he lost his grip and fell onto the asphalt while the vehicle continued to move.

Following the incident, Sohaimi confirmed that the altercation between the two began at a supermarket in Bandar Seri Alam.

Subsequently, the man climbed onto the hood and clung to the front of the car, which the woman drove slowly for 2km.

A group of men believed to be his friends later allegedly arrived and blocked the car.

They then allegedly extorted the woman, and seized her belongings before breaking the car's windows.

Local police acting on a tip-off later arrested the man at around 2am on Mar. 1 in Masai, Johor Bahru.

While he does not have any prior criminal record, the man tested positive for ketamine and is currently remanded for seven days.

If found guilty of consuming ketamine, he may be jailed for up to two years, or fined up to RM5,000 (S$1,626).

Those found guilty of extortion may be jailed for up to ten years, or fined, or caned, or any two of these punishments.

Those found guilty of mischief against property may be jailed for up to two years, or fined, or both.
