ICA detects 42 e-vaporiser cases among travellers in 4 days, over 240 vapes & related components seized
Vaping is illegal in Singapore.
Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) detected 42 cases of travellers found in possession of e-vaporisers as well as those who voluntarily disposed of them between Mar. 24 and 27, 2026.
More than 240 e-vaporisers and related components were seized, ICA said in a Facebook post on Mar. 29.
About 52 per cent of the cases involved short-term visitors and 48 per cent were Singapore residents (Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass holders), they said.
Efforts against e-vaporisers
Vaping is illegal in Singapore, ICA emphasised.
ICA continues to support the whole-of-government efforts against e-vaporisers through stepped-up checks at Singapore’s air, land and sea checkpoints, they wrote.
These checks aim to detect and deter attempts to smuggle e-vaporisers into Singapore.
Individuals caught possessing, using or purchasing e-vaporisers will face higher penalties.
Short-term visitors who re-offend will be banned from re-entering Singapore, while long-term pass holders who re-offend may have their passes revoked on a third offence, and be deported and banned from re-entering Singapore.
"ICA remains committed to securing our borders against undesirable persons, cargo and vehicles, including attempts to smuggle e-vaporisers," they said.
