Japanese celeb arrested for stealing S$2.40 sandwich from convenience store, had spent inheritance from mother on clubs

Anri Sakaguchi, 35, was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting a sandwich from a convenience store in Hachioji, Tokyo, according to reports.

The sandwich was reportedly 300 yen (S$2.40). According to the police, she admitted to the charge while in custody.

The news has caused quite a stir in Japan.

Sakaguchi is the daughter of iconic Japanese actress Ryoko Sakaguchi. The younger Sakaguchi herself had entered the entertainment industry at a young age.

She appeared in a number of television series.

Her mother passed away in 2013 from cancer.

According to reports, Sakguchi had spent her inheritance on host clubs.

She would then make her Adult Video debut in 2016.

She has been open about her financial difficulties and has also worked in a brothel previously.

Sakaguchi has been married and divorced twice over the years.
