Nightlife appearances spark online debate
The brothersā visit quickly drew attention on local social media platforms, where Hong Kong users debated why the pair had been allowed into the city despite the criminal charges they currently face overseas, reported the Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP).
Hong Kong media also reported local figures taking selfies with the brothers.
Other users on Threads criticised the public reception they received, pointing to Andrew Tateās past remarks about women and his association with the online āmanosphereā ā a loose network of male-focused internet communities that often promote anti-feminist views.
Andrew later described Hong Kong positively in comments to media, saying the city had welcomed him warmly, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
āThe energy of the city, the culture, and the people have been amazing, youāll see on my X that we were warmly welcomed very shortly after arriving.
āIām always grateful when people come over to say hello or show support. Itās good to see that not everyone believes everything they see in the media.ā
The pair also appeared to have spent time in Victoria Harbour and at venues in Causeway Bay.
Separate reports suggested they may have been staying at Rosewood Hong Kong, though the hotel declined to comment on any guest details, citing privacy and security reasons.
Legal cases in Romania and the UK remain active
The Tate brothers were first arrested in Romania in late 2022 and were formally charged the following year with human trafficking and forming an organised criminal group, SCMP reported.
Andrew Tate also faces a rape charge there.
Romanian prosecutors later brought additional allegations in 2024, as cited by HKFP, including accusations involving minors, while authorities in the United Kingdom authorised further charges against both men, including rape, assault and trafficking-related offences.
Some charges previously linked to Andrew Tate in Britain have since been dropped, but legal proceedings remain ongoing in both jurisdictions. The brothers have denied all allegations made against them.
Their Hong Kong appearance has renewed questions online about international travel while those proceedings continue, particularly after Romanian authorities eased an earlier travel ban that had previously limited their movement abroad.
