What was meant to be a fun trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia turned into an anxiety-inducing experience for a man from Singapore.

He told Mothership that the alleged road rage incident occurred when he was stuck in slow-moving traffic outside Komtar JBCC.

A Malaysia-registered car had apparently attempted to cut into his lane.

When he refused to give way, the situation apparently escalated.

The driver of the Malaysia-registered car allegedly got out of his vehicle and struck the man’s vehicle, causing an estimated S$9,000 in damages.

Describing it as a "serious" road rage incident, the man from Singapore said he has since reported the matter to the police.

Tried to cut in during jam

The man from Singapore explained why he did not let the Malaysia-registered car cut in: “I refused to let him cut in as everyone had been waiting a long time in the slow-moving traffic.”

The other driver later dropped off his passengers at a nearby hotel before approaching the man’s car on foot.

The in-vehicle camera footage showed the driver briskly walking up to the vehicle and striking it with an object in his hand.

Loud noises could be heard as he repeatedly hit the side of the car.

The driver than walked off after gesturing with his hands.

Damages estimated at S$9,000

The man from Singapore said he took his car to a workshop on Feb. 9 and was informed that repair costs could amount to up to S$9,000.

He added that even after filing an insurance claim, he would still have to pay a part of the repair costs out of pocket.

He expressed hope that the driver would be held accountable for his actions and that the incident would raise awareness about road safety among motorists.
