Fire at Chinatown restaurant on CNY day 2, no injuries reported

A fire broke out at a restaurant in Chinatown on the second day of Chinese New Year.

Responding to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a fire at 52 Smith Street on Feb. 18 at 2:10am.

The address is for the Chinese restaurant Wan Nian Stone Pot Fish.

According to SCDF, the restaurant's kitchen was on fire.

Firefighters entered the smoke-filled unit and extinguished the fire with two water jets.

No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
