The next time you accidentally scorch your shirt with an iron, you might want to think twice before tossing it out.

Apparently, iron burn marks are now haute couture.

Swiss luxury brand Vetements has unveiled an “ironing burn” graphic shirt — and yes, it’s intentional.

The price might leave you equally singed: a whopping US$1,139 (S$1,443).

Ironing burn shirt

If you’re wondering whether there’s more to it than an imitation of a laundry mishap, you can judge for yourself:

The piece is a white cotton shirt with a pointed collar and a printed ironing scorch mark over the chest pocket.

According to the product listing, it is made in Portugal and crafted from 100 per cent cotton.

The shirt is currently sold out on Los Angeles high-fashion retailer H.Lorenzo.

It is still available for purchase on the British e-commerce site Farfetch.

Bewildered reactions

Unsurprisingly, the shirt has sparked plenty of online amusement, with many joking that they unknowingly discarded "luxury fashion" over the years.

"Proof that some people capitalise on their mistakes," one Facebook user wrote.

"Finally my ironing mistakes are luxury," a Threads user joked.

Eyebrow-raising fashion

Vetements was founded by brothers Demna Gvasalia and Guram Gvasalia in 2014.

Just a year later, Demna was appointed as the new creative director of Balenciaga, a role he held until 2025.

Balenciaga itself is also known for its eyebrow-raising and questionable fashion pieces, like the scotch tape bracelets and towel skirt.
