A Mercedes car crashed into a road divider along Punggol North Avenue on Feb. 17, damaging several sections of the divider and scattering debris on the road.

The video

The incident came to light after a video was uploaded to the Facebook page SGRV on Feb. 18.

Footage showed a grey Mercedes parked on the road with its hazard lights on.

A man dressed in a red shirt and white pants was seen picking up fragments of the green guardrail strewn across the road.

The motorcyclist who was filming the video subsequently stopped and assisted with the cleanup.

He was heard asking the man if he was alright and whether he had been feeling sleepy prior to the accident.

The man replied that he had been "a bit sleepy just now".

The front portion of the car also appeared heavily damaged, with its licence plate missing.

Police investigations ongoing

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed it was alerted to a road traffic accident at the junction of Punggol North Avenue and Punggol Way at around 4:05am on Feb. 17.

SCDF assessed a person for minor injuries and the person declined to be sent to the hospital

The police also said they were alerted to an accident involving a car which was believed to have self-skidded along Punggol North Avenue towards Punggol East.

No injuries were reported.

A 51-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations.
