S'pore can work with US govt on education: Desmond Lee on Anjani Sinha's MOE visit
The ambassador began his tenure in Singapore in November 2025.
The U.S. Ambassador to Singapore Anjani Sinha recently paid a visit to the Ministry of Education (MOE), where he met with Minister of Education Desmond Lee.
In a Facebook post on Jan. 30, Lee welcomed Sinha to Singapore and MOE, and shared about their discussions during the visit.
During the meeting, Lee and Sinha spoke about the crucial role that education plays in society, and the educational exchanges between Singapore and the United States.
"We look forward to working closely with the U.S. government to foster continued exchanges, and strengthen our collaborations in meaningful areas such as educational technology, and AI in education, and research," Lee wrote.
Such partnerships will contribute to both countries’ ability to prepare their students and workers for the future, he added.
Arrived in November
Sinha was sworn in as the ambassador to Singapore in late October 2025.
He then arrived to begin his tenure on Nov. 6.
On his first day, he called Singapore a friend of the U.S., a leading hub for American business, and a pillar of regional stability.
He highlighted that he was eager to work with Singapore in areas such as technology, energy, and security.
Sinha caught the public's attention during his July 2025 confirmation hearing in the U.S., when he was grilled by U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth.
Although Duckworth told him he was "unqualified" for the posting, Sinha's appointment as ambassador was eventually confirmed with a 51-47 vote in the U.S. Senate.
