A group of Yishun residents banded together to rescue a cat that was stuck in a floor pipe on Jan. 28.
In a video of the rescue shared on TikTok, the cat was shown lodged inside the pipe as several people tried to pry the casing open.
The resident who posted it told Mothership that they saw a group of people surrounding the drain at 10pm that night.
Around 10 people had gathered to help the hapless feline.

The rescue
In the video, one person was seen attempting to coax the cat out.
When that failed, residents called a plumber, who dismantled the casing to extricate the cat.
Some even tried accessing the drain from the other side in a bid to free the feline.
According to the resident, the cat had apparently entered the drain, gotten stuck, and had remained there since the morning.

Extraction complete
After much effort, the pipe casing was finally removed.
The cat was seen being lifted out of the drain and hugged by a resident.
Throughout the ordeal however, the cat appeared unbothered by the commotion.

Owner thankful
A TikTok user later identified themselves as the cat’s owner, sharing that the cat’s name is Mocha.
“Thank you to those who stopped and helped us get the meow out. Truly grateful for the assistance and touched by how kind you all are when coming to help rescue Mocha,” they wrote.
