G7 summit reportedly rescheduled so Trump can attend White House UFC event in Jun. 2026
The meeting of G7 leaders was originally slated to take place from Jun. 14 to 16.
France has reportedly postponed this year’s G7 summit in the spa town of Evian-les-Bains to avoid a scheduling clash with U.S. president Donald Trump’s 80th birthday on Jun. 14, 2026.
The meeting of G7 leaders was originally slated to take place from Jun. 14 to 16.
However, Politico reported that the summit has been moved to Jun. 15 to 17 so as not to disrupt celebrations marking the 47th U.S. president’s birthday.
Jun. 14 also coincides with Flag Day in the United States.
According to reports, the White House is planning to host a mixed martial arts fight on its grounds as part of Trump’s birthday celebrations.

Trump is a close friend of Dana White, the chief executive officer and president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The fight card was first announced by Trump as part of a wider slate of events planned to mark America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
White reportedly embraced the idea, quickly moving to draw up plans for an outdoor arena on the White House’s South Lawn, which would host its first-ever sporting event.
Postponement due to ‘consultations with G7 partners’
French President Emmanuel Macron said the postponement of the summit was the result of "consultations with G7 partners".
The G7 comprises the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan.
The annual summit is hosted by a different member country each year on a rotating basis.
France’s decision to potentially accommodate Trump comes amid strained relations between the U.S. president and traditional American allies.
In his second term, Trump has repeatedly criticised European partners and Japan, launched a trade war affecting several G7 members, and pressured allies to increase defence spending.
