An 18-year-old man, who shared a girl's nude photos, pleaded guilty to five charges on Jan. 9.

The charges included distributing intimate images, voluntarily causing hurt, and theft in dwelling, The Straits Times reported.

However, the accused cannot be named as he was 17 when he committed some of the offences that occurred between 2024 and 2025 and is protected under the Children and Young Persons Act.

Shared girl's nudes

On Jul. 17, 2024, the accused was added to a group chat where nude photos of a female victim were shared.

He was added to the group by a friend.

The accused then saved the photos before they got deleted.

He then created a public Telegram channel later that month and posted the photos there.

He shared the link to the channel on his Instagram page with the caption, “Click here for exclusive content”.

The channel, before it was deleted, had between 400 and 500 members.

The channel was deleted after the victim told the accused that the authorities were aware of the leaked photos.

Shop theft

On Aug. 8, 2024, the man and his classmate stole items from Popular bookstore at Nex.

Only S$559.80 out of S$760 worth of items were recovered.

The stolen items included two Razer keyboards, a backpack and a laptop bag.

Forged NRIC

In September 2024, the accused helped the same classmate forge an NRIC.

He used a photo-editing tool to change his classmate’s date of birth on a photo of the NRIC derived from the Singpass app.

The date was edited from Jun. 23, 2009, to Jun. 23, 2002

The NRIC number was also edited.

The classmate used the forged NRIC to purchase cigarettes and alcohol on three occasions between Sep. 1, 2024, and Jan. 8, 2025.

The classmate subsequently made a police report on Jan. 11, 2025.

He admitted to using a forged NRIC to buy the items while underaged.

Ruse to cheat victim

In February 2025, the accused was in a conference call with two boys while playing an online game.

The two others were a 15-year-old boy and another boy.

The topic of Kpods, also known as etomidate-laced vapes, came up at one point.

The accused's father overheard the chatter and confronted the accused about using Kpods.

The accused and the other boy then thought of a plan to cheat the 15-year-old boy.

The ruse involved telling the 15-year-old boy that he had brought up the topic of Kpods, which caused =the accused's father to dispose of Kpods worth S$500, according to ST.

The accused and the other boy then started a conference call with the victim.

The other boy demanded S$10,000 as compensation from the 15-year-old boy, and the accused reduced this to S$1,000.

Between March and May 2025, the victim paid S$917.50 to the accused via 15 payments.

The accused gave S$200 to the other boy for being part of the ruse.

Filmed victim undressed

In May 2025, the accused ganged up with three others to confront the same victim in the school toilet.

This was over a separate dispute about Kpods.

The accused at first demanded S$3,000 from the victim, who delayed making payment.

The court heard that the victim had to choose between stripping to expose only his underwear or to fight one person in the group.

The victim chose to strip and was filmed.

He was then told to kneel down and apologise for delaying payment.

After the incident, the victim continued to delay payment.

The accused then decided to use the video as blackmail material to compel the victim to pay.

The victim then paid S$228 to the accused.

The accused then beat up the victim on Jul. 28, 2025.

Police report made

On Jul. 31, 2025, the victim’s mother made a police report over the extortion.

The accused was arrested on Aug. 1, 2025, and released on bail, but still committed theft and affray.

His bail was revoked on Oct. 9, 2025 and he has remained in remand.

The prosecution sought a reformative training suitability report, but objected to a probation report due to the severity of his offences.

The accused will be sentenced on Feb. 6.
