A couple, who first bonded over a cup of coffee, passed away three days apart.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the couple's sons recounted how their parents had started to talk when their father bought his future wife a cup of coffee.
The two were working in Tiong Bahru at the time, but had not spoken prior to that.
Huang Fangping, 93, and Wang Yamei, 88, passed away on Jan. 8 and Jan. 5, respectively.
Huang died after a bout of difficulty breathing at night, while Wang had died after a battle with stomach cancer.
The children told Shin Min they had planned to hold a funeral for their mother on Jan. 9.
But after their father's passing, they decided to hold a joint funeral on Jan. 11 instead.
After cremation, their ashes were placed together.
One of their sons noted that their parents had never spent any time apart during their time together, so they were mentally prepared that one might leave soon after the other.
However, even they were surprised that it happened so soon:
"I didn't expect it to be only a few days apart, but the fact that they both passed away together put the family at ease, and neither seemed to suffer much when they died."
