Thai woman, 22, suffers burns on face & arms after power bank explodes in bag & catches fire
The woman has since been discharged from the hospital.
A 22-year-old Thai woman suffered burns to her face and arms after a power bank used to charge her phone in her shoulder bag exploded and caught fire.
The incident occurred at a night market in eastern Thailand's Chonburi Province, Thai news outlet Matichon reported on Jan. 3, 2026, adding that the fire spread to the woman's clothes, face and arms.

news.ch7.com reported that vendors and shoppers at the market were shocked when they saw the woman, who was wearing a red shirt, engulfed in flames and screaming for help.
A market vendor, who recounted how the woman ran to her for help, said she observed that the woman suffered severe burns to her face and arms.
Another market vendor then extinguished the fire by pouring water on the woman.
Discharged
Following the incident, the injured woman was sent to the hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
According to news.ch7.com, initial investigations suggest that the quality of the power bank may have been substandard, causing the explosion while the woman was charging her phone.
