About 10 massage and spa establishments at Tanjong Pagar Plaza have closed shop following regular raids and inspections conducted by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), according to Tanjong Pagar Member of Parliament (MP) Foo Cexiang.

In a Facebook post on Jan. 4, Foo said in the past few months, the SPF had detected breaches in eight of the massage and spa establishments, and made 13 arrests.

Some of the traders and owners of other shops had also shared with him about how at least half of the establishments which closed down were raided.

"Police will continue with firm enforcement action," he wrote.

Part of Tanjong Pagar Plaza's revitalisation

Foo said that a music school, Sol Academy, had since taken over the rental of one of the units that previously belonged to a massage/spa establishment.

Most of the other units are still vacant.

The MP pointed out that many residents had wrote to him in support of his plan to revitalise Tanjong Pagar Plaza which he announced last year in September 2025.

This included residents who are young families with children living in the Plaza and in the vicinity.

The operators of massage or TCM establishments who operate legitimate business have also welcomed the departure of the massage/spa establishment which give them and the Plaza a negative reputation, he added.

Residents keen on having more family restaurants, cafes and enrichment centres

The Tanjong Pagar Plaza Traders Association is also keen on the revitalisation in order to present a "greater diversity" of shops to attract more patrons, Foo said.

"Residents shared that they look forward to more family restaurants, fast food/cafe outlets, as well as hobbies/enrichment centres. The Traders Association is sharing the findings with their networks, to attract more of these businesses to set up shop in the Plaza," he added.

The MP added that he would be working with the association and the Residents' Network to organise more events at the plaza's concourse.

This is to increase footfall from residents and those working or living nearby, and for them to experience the change in vibes of the plaza, and be part of the change too, he said.
