Sarawak principal, 45, & wife, 44, found dead at home, police investigating case as murder

The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation.

A 45-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife in Sarawak, Malaysia were found dead at their home in Sri Aman on Jan. 14.

In a Facebook statement on Jan. 14, Sarawak police commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said that the case is currently being investigated as a murder, after officers were alerted at around 6:55am.

According to Malay Mail, the man, identified as Andy Roy Anak Junran, had worked as a school principal at Lubok Antu while his wife was a nurse at the Sri Aman Hospital.

Found with severe injuries, case classified as murder

In his statement, Zainal said that the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters (IPD) were alerted to the "discovery of an unconscious married couple with signs of serious injuries" at a house in Taman Mutiara, Jalan Brayun, Sri Aman.

Police and medical officers from Sri Aman Hospital were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The pair was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zainal confirmed that police has since classified the case as murder, and it will be investigated as such.

He added: "The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation, and efforts to gather evidence and witness statements are actively underway."

Members of the public with information on the incident are also advised to contact local police.

On Facebook, images of the aftermath of the incident showed an ambulance and police vehicles near or within the location.

Officers were seen outside the house, with several onlookers gathering beyond the police caution tape.

The post speculated that the couple was found dead in their bedroom by their child who was getting ready for school.

Man was newly appointed principal, wife was a hospital nurse

Andy was officially appointed as school principal at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sbangki in the Lubok Antu district on Jan. 5.

The Lubok Antu District Education Office in a Facebook post Jan. 7, and said that Andy had been promoted from being a senior assistant teacher at SK Ijok.

"Hopefully the given mandate can be carried out with dedication and bring excellence to the school," the office wrote.

In light of his promotion, Andy said in a post on Jan. 7: "Million special thanks to PPDLA and JPNS for this appointment. I will try to do my best to bear the responsibility and trust given."
The Sarawak State Education Department expressed its condolences to Andy's family in a post on its Facebook page on Jan. 14.

"May all your affairs be eased," wrote department director Omar Mahli.

Condolences to the family and tributes for Andy's wife, Angelin Kibin, were also offered on social media by her employer, Sri Aman Hospital.

The hospital wrote:

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of such a beloved individual. Throughout her service at Sri Aman Hospital, she was known for her kind nature, dedication, and commitment to her duties.

She always carried out her responsibilities with total sincerity, professionalism, and a high sense of accountability. Her passing is a great loss that is deeply felt by the entire hospital community."
