South Korea president Lee Jae Myung and Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi played drums together after their summit on Jan. 13.

The two met for talks in Nara, which is Takaichi's hometown.

This was the first time in 15 years that a Korean president had visited a Japanese city that was not Tokyo for a bilateral summit.

The two leaders also shared updates on their post-summit activities.

According to The Korea Herald, the Japanese side had prepared a surprise event after a joint news conference on the summit's outcome.

The two leaders put on matching blue uniforms and performed "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters and BTS' "Dynamite" on their Pearl drum kits.

According to the South Korean presidential spokesperson, the event was to showcase the "chemistry and personal rapport between the two leaders".

Takaichi, who is known as an avid drummer, having even been in a college band, took the lead in the session, according to the Korean Herald.

Lee said he managed to fulfil a "lifelong dream", he said.

"Ever since I was young, I had wished to play the drums."

Takaichi then presented Lee with a pair of drumsticks.

The two leaders signed the sticks and exchanged them.
