The inmate and escorting prison officers suffered minor injuries and had received medical treatment.
A vehicle belonging to the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) was involved in a road accident with two other vehicles on the CTE towards the SLE, after Jalan Bahagia, on Dec. 19.
The SPS vehicle was carrying an inmate and two escorting officers. They were travelling to Selarang Park Complex after the inmate’s medical appointment at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
According to an SPS Facebook post, the vehicle was rear-ended by a private car and subsequently collided with another private vehicle in front.
The inmate and one of the escorting officers were trapped at the rear of the SPS vehicle.
SPS immediately alerted the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assistance.
Both were rescued by SCDF using hydraulic rescue equipment. The inmate suffered minor injuries and has since been discharged after receiving treatment at Changi General Hospital.
The two escorting officers also received medical treatment for minor injuries.
SPS is currently assisting the police with investigations.
