Teen, 17, allegedly robs victim with karambit knife at Jurong West, gets arrested in 10 hours

A 17-year-old teenager has been arrested by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery.
According to an SPF press release, they were alerted to the case on Dec. 18, 2025, at 10:35pm, along Jurong West Street 93.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager allegedly swung a karambit knife towards the victim and demanded that he hand over his mobile phone and gold ring.
Arrested within 10 hours of the report
The youth was arrested within 10 hours of the report after officers from Clementi Police Division established his identity with the aid of images from police cameras and through follow-up investigations.
A mobile phone, gold ring, and karambit knife were recovered and seized as case exhibits.

The teenager is scheduled to be charged in court on Dec. 20, 2025, for the offence of robbery when armed or with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt under Section 397 of the Penal Code 1871.
The offence carries a jail term of between five to 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
SPF added that such "brazen" acts of crime are not tolerated.
Members of the public who encounter such cases should remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call the police as soon as possible.
