Kaohsiung city in Taiwan is stepping up police patrols after a knife attack happened in Taipei on the evening of Dec. 19.

The knife attack was carried out by a 27-year-old man, Chang Wen, who threw smoke bombs and went on a killing spree near Taipei Main Station and Zhongshan Station.

Chang later died from falling off from a building during a police chase to evade arrest.

His motive remains unclear and police investigations are ongoing.

"Chang Wen is my brother"

A Threads user subsequently posted:

"Chang Wen is my brother, we are a team. The mission he can't finish today, I'll continue.

Next is Kaohsiung station, please stay tuned. Leave it to us to fix the social ills."

The Threads account had a location tag in Vietnam.

The post has since been deleted but screenshots of the post were circulated online.

The Taiwanese authorities, including Kaohsiung police and the metro police, are looking into it and tracking the user down.

In the meantime, 214 police officers have been deployed to patrol various parts of Kaohsiung Main Station, according to UDN.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai said that six suspicious social media accounts have been identified, and the city will step up security, especially for the upcoming countdown events.
