Woman playing pickleball against void deck wall in Serangoon draws mixed reactions online

A woman who was seen playing pickleball against the wall of a HDB void deck has sparked mixed reactions online.

In a recent TikTok video posted by "userd34rrlewk", the caption stated that this took place at Serangoon North Ave 1.

Reactions

In the video, the woman can be seen playing alone and practising against the wall, the "pok" sound of the ball hitting the wall echoing.

Some netizens disapproved of her actions, calling her "selfish and inconsiderate".

One noted that the noise could be annoying for people who live on low floors of the block.

Another stated that marks would be left on the wall.

However, others felt that the woman was not at fault, noting that she was simply exercising.

In addition, the netizen noted that the woman was playing pickleball before 10pm, instead of in the wee hours of the day.

Restrictions

This video comes after numerous community hardcourts across Singapore have seen their operating timings updated, including those in the East and in Ang Mo Kio.

Ang Mo Kio Town Council previously announced on Facebook that they received feedback about "prolonged noise and court congestion", especially with players playing past 9pm.

As such, certain hardcourts have had their operating hours limited to 9am to 9pm daily.

Outside the operating hours, gates to the courts will be locked.

New pickleball courts

Eight new pickleball courts were recently made available for play at the current Little India Bus Terminal along Racecourse Road.

The courts will open from early 2026.

The terminal, which only operates on Sundays, will be retrofitted with court facilities and be available for booking on Mondays to Saturdays via the MyActiveSG+ app.

The initiative was announced by Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC Alvin Tan in a Facebook post on Oct. 24.
