Girl, 5, drowns in M'sia clubhouse pool during kindergarten awards ceremony
She was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
A five-year-old girl in Malaysia drowned in a clubhouse swimming pool while she was swimming with her friends.
The Negri Sembilan police said the incident occurred just after 12:15pm on Dec. 6, The New Straits Times reported.
The police chief said the girl was with her friends at the clubhouse for a kindergarten awards ceremony and had reportedly slipped away from her parents.
She was later found unconscious in the pool, and members of the public performed CPR on the girl while waiting for an ambulance.
She was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:06pm.
According to The Star, while the case has been classified as sudden death, the police would continue investigating under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which covers offences related to children's welfare.
