Mothership understands that the notice has also been posted up inside the restaurant's premises.

"All good things must come to an end," the statement read.

The restaurant cited the "advanced" age of its shareholders and management, as well as the lack of successors to take over the restaurant, as key reasons for the closure.

It also expressed its sincere gratitude to its patrons for supporting them over the past 33 years, and shared that it will be rolling out special promotions as a final thank you before closing.

"Before that, we will launch special promotions on our menu and Chinese New Year festive cakes to thank everyone for their unwavering support over the years."

Opened back in 1992

East Ocean Teochew Restaurant, which was founded in 1992, was initially located in Shaw Centre on Scotts Road, before eventually moving to the fifth floor of Ngee Ann City in 2012.

It is renowned for its classic Teochew and Cantonese fare, handmade dim sum, as well as festive specialties including mooncakes, zongzi (rice dumplings), and nian gao (New Year rice cake).

Mothership has reached out to the restaurant for further comment.
