Charged.
Australian police have charged a man in connection with a mass shooting at a Jewish community event on Sydney's Bondi Beach, which left 15 people dead and dozens injured.
The suspect faces 59 charges, including 15 counts of murder and one count of committing a terrorist act, as reported by BBC on Dec. 17.
According to the authorities, the attack was carried out by father-and-son duo Sajid Akram, 50, and Naveed Akram, 24.
Police said the pair opened fire during an event marking the first night of Hanukkah, in what was believed to be a targeted attack on the Jewish community.
Sajid was later killed in a gunfight with police at the scene.
His son Naveed, also shot by officers, emerged from a coma on the afternoon of Dec. 16.

New South Wales authorities said 15 civilians, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed and 42 others were injured.
The overall death toll from the attack stands at 16, including Sajid.
The shooting is believed to be the deadliest mass shooting in Australia since 1996.
