Thai esports athlete Naphat Warasin, 24, also known as Tokyogurl, was disqualified from the 2025 SEA Games on Dec. 15 after she used unauthorised software during a match.

In an official statement shared on Facebook, the Thailand Esports Federation (TESF) confirmed that Naphat was removed following a violation during an Arena of Valor (AoV) match against Vietnam.

She was also terminated from her management agency and barred from future tournaments, reported The Bangkok Post.

Flipped middle finger during match livestream

AoV is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game popular in Thailand, which features five-on-five team battles.

Naphat, a member of Thailand's women's AoV team, was also criticised for inappropriate conduct during the match's livestream.

The video, posted on Dec. 15, showed Naphat sitting with her teammates and showing her middle finger at the camera while grinning and sticking her tongue out.

Used unauthorised third-party software or hardware modification

In the statement, SEA Games esports technical delegate Joebert Lopez Yu said that Naphat had "committed an offence" during the first game of the match by using unauthorised third-party software or hardware modification.

He added that "conclusive evidence" was discovered following further investigation.

This led to her expulsion from the "entirety of the esports competition" in the SEA Games.

"The decision is final," Yu concluded.

This led to the disqualification of Naphat, and the withdrawal of the entire team.

Vietnam eventually clinched gold, with Laos and Timor Leste securing the other podium places.

Terminated from agency and barred from future competitions, team withdraws

Naphat was also terminated from her management agency, TALON TH, with immediate effect following the incident.

The agency announced its decision on Facebook on Dec. 16.

According to The Bangkok Post, event organiser Garena RoV Thailand backed the expulsion and announced that she would be barred from all future tournaments under its purview.

TESF president and Asian Esports Federation chief Santi Lohthong said the entire Thai women's AoV team would withdraw "as a measure of accountability".

He apologised on the team's behalf and stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of esports competition.

TESF also reiterated its commitment to fair play and said it would conduct a review to strengthen technical safeguards and ethical standards to prevent similar incidents.
