Bras Basah food court charges flat S$2 price for all hot coffees & teas with or without sugar or milk
Apparently "more convenient".
A drinks stall at Bras Basah Complex's Shifu Food Court charges S$2 for a cup of hot coffee or tea, regardless of whether it comes with or without milk or sugar.
Cold coffee or tea costs S$2.60.
All hot coffee & tea at S$2
The beverage stall owner explained that this uniform pricing system is "easier to calculate" and "more convenient," Shin Min Daily News reported.
This is because the stall offers various levels of discounts for students, guests staying at selected hotels, and members of the Bras Basah Complex Merchants’ Association.
The quality of the coffee brewed is also "very good".
He explained that the stall purchased S$8,000 espresso machines, as well as coffee powder that is slightly more expensive than the standard coffee powder.
He also told Shin Min that some customers initially found the price a little expensive, but later decided it was "worth the price" after trying the coffee.

Some reactions to the pricing
This uniform pricing system has drawn some confusion and criticism from members of the public, with some lamenting that drinks without milk should be cheaper.
A frequent customer known only as Wei was quoted as saying that the undifferentiated drinks' pricing is a little strange, but there are also "better alternatives" in the vicinity.
The drinks stall is located within Shifu Food Court, a 24-hour food court which reopened in 2024 after a S$450,000 renovation.
According to Wei, the coffee used to cost S$1.40 per cup before the renovation.
Another diner interviewed said S$2 for a hot tea is more expensive than at most other beverage stalls, but it is "understandable" given that this is within the city area.
