Newly surfaced footage appears to show a civilian tackling and disarming one of the gunmen involved in a deadly shooting at Bondi Beach, Sydney, on Dec. 14.

At least 10 people were killed, including one of the shooters, in what is believed to be a targeted attack on a Jewish event held at the iconic beach, according to media reports.

BBC reported that at least 12 others were also injured, including two police officers.

Civilian seizes shotgun from gunman

In the video, a man wearing a white shirt can be seen crouching behind a car in a nearby carpark, just metres from the gunman.

He then rushes forward, grabs the shooter from behind in a headlock.

After a fierce struggle, the man manages to seize the shotgun. The gunman subsequently falls backwards.

The man is seen pointing the weapon at the shooter, who then walks away towards a bridge while glancing over his shoulder.

The shotgun is later placed against a tree.

The same footage also shows a second gunman on a raised bridge nearby, ducking in and out of view as he exchanges gunfire with police officers sheltering behind vehicles.

Another officer approaches from the opposite direction and appears to shoot the gunman on the bridge dead.

The disarmed gunman was taken into custody.

Aftermath

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics were called at 6.45 pm local time (3:45 pm SGT) to reports of multiple people shot at Bondi Beach.

In a statement, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the scenes in Bondi are “shocking and distressing".

“Police and emergency responders are on the ground working to save lives. My thoughts are with every person affected,” he said.
