Reflecting on his selection for Officer Cadet School (OCS), Ong told Pioneer that he experienced a mix of emotions.
He said he was "thrilled and excited" about the great opportunity, but intimidated by the high standards expected at OCS.
According to Ong, his toughest experience in OCS was the surprise Pressure Inurement Training (PIT), which came after his Professional Term Summary Exercise.
Determined, he pushed his limits and worked diligently to meet the high expectations he set for himself.
His efforts were eventually recognised when he received the Sword of Honour during the commissioning parade on Dec, 13, an award presented to the top of the cohort.
