Singapore singer Ling Xiao died on Dec. 13 at the age of 75.

Lianhe Zaobao reported that Ling Xiao, real name Tan Choon Huat, had been dealing with a myriad of health conditions in recent years.

He had suffered a stroke in 2022, which led to partial paralysis.

He also suffered from hypertension and diabetes before his death, and had to be hospitalised multiple times over the years.

He lived with his sister, who had taken care of him after his stroke.

Zaobao also reported that prior to his passing, he had to undergo dialysis three times a week and complained of pains in multiple parts of his body, which led to a diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer.

Upon hearing that he had at most six months more to live, Ling strongly requested to be discharged.

Singer and actor

Ling Xiao, who gained fame as a singer in the 70s, released over 30 records with Happy Records.

To younger folks, though, he might be more recognisable as an actor in the late 90s and 2000s.

He starred in popular local tv shows like Facing the Music and Legend of the Eight Immortals.

He also starred in musicals in the 2010s.

His funeral will take place on Dec. 17.
