WhatsappAt least 722 concert ticket scam cases amounting to over S$615,000 in losses were reported between January 2025 and October 2025, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a statement on Dec. 12.

Such incidents typically take place on messaging or social media platforms such as Telegram, Carousell and X (formerly Twitter), where victims source for concert ticket sales.

Modus operandi

In many cases, scammers would provide screenshots or videos of fake tickets or receipts to convince victims that the tickets are authentic.

Victims are then rushed into making a payment under the excuse that offers are time-sensitive or limited in quantity, while scammers promise to deliver the tickets after payment.

Upon failing to do so, they may claim to not receive the initial payment and ask for more funds.

Victims typically realise they have been scammed when tickets are not delivered or when sellers become uncontactable, according to SPF.

Police advisory

The police is advising vigilance ahead of upcoming Singapore concerts.

Among these are Korean boy band Super Junior's  "Super Show 10" concert in January 2026 and Seventeen's "Seventeen World Tour [New_]" in March 2026.

Those who purchase resale tickets will be turned away from concerts with no refund, the police added.

They also advised that concert tickets should only be purchased from authorised platforms such as Ticketmaster, whose tickets cannot be transferred or resold.

As such, they reminded the public to be wary of resellers claiming to be able to transfer their tickets to a buyer's Ticketmaster account after purchase.

Facebook Marketplace and TikTok Shop, other common platforms of ticketing scams, do not allow the sales of concert tickets.

Carousell similarly periodically removes fraudulent listings of resale tickets, particularly for popular events.
