WhatsappThailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has vowed that his country will continue fighting Cambodia until "no more harm" is felt.

His message comes just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said that the leaders of the conflicting countries have agreed to a ceasefire.

Not a roadside accident

In a Facebook post on Dec. 13, Anutin said that the incident that contributed to the latest round of fighting was "definitely not a roadside accident".

His words appear to directly contradict Trump's words just hours before, when he claimed in a TruthSocial post that "the roadside bomb that originally killed and wounded numerous Thai Soldiers was an accident".

It is unclear which bomb or specific incident Trump was referring to.

Thailand launched air strikes in Cambodian territory after two of its soldiers were injured in a skirmish, which led to rocket barrages from Cambodia.

"Thailand will continue to perform military actions until we feel no more harm and threats to our land and people," Anutin added.

"I want to make it clear. Our actions this morning already spoke," he said, referring to fighting that resumed early Saturday (Dec. 13) morning.

He had also conveyed similar sentiments in days prior, including declaring in another Facebook post that "Thailand's direction remains status quo."

"No ceasefire," he has repeatedly said.

He reportedly told Trump that a ceasefire would only be possible after Cambodia had withdrawn all its forces and removed landmines, according to BBC.

Trump said ceasefire?

Trump's involvement in the conflict began after he witnessed the signing of an expanded peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia in October on the sidelines of the 47th Asean summit in Kuala Lumpur.

In response to renewed fighting at the Thai-Cambodia border on Dec. 8, he said that he was scheduled to speak to leaders of both countries, Reuters reported.

The conversation supposedly took place in the morning of Dec. 12, after which Trump gave an update on the situation in a Truth Social post.

"I had a very good conversation this morning with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, and the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet, concerning the very unfortunate reawakening of their long-running War," he wrote.

"They have agreed to CEASE all shooting effective this evening, and go back to the original Peace Accord made."
