Car-sharing company BlueSG has scrapped its entire fleet of Bluecar electric vehicles (EVs) ahead of its expected relaunch in 2026.

In response to Mothership's queries, a Land Transport Authority (LTA) spokesperson said the EVs fall under a scheme that does not allow any ownership transfer.

Hundreds of the BlueSG cars were supposed to be sold over to car-sharing company Tribecar, following the initial announcement in August 2025, reported The Straits Times.

The BlueSG cars were initially being marketed as available for lease from S$799 nett a month.

EVs disposed, relaunch "on track": BlueSG chief executive

BlueSG chief executive Keith Kee said on Dec. 16 that the company has completed the disposal of its vehicles and remains on track for the relaunch.

However, he did not disclose further details.

It was reported that the three-door Bluecar EVs were scrapped, while its five-door models were sold to used car dealers.

The company was initially supposed to sell the EVs to Tribecar, which told ST that the authorities had "blocked" the transfer.

As of Dec. 17, BlueSG cars have either been sold to car dealers or listed on used-car marketplace Sgcarmart.

These vehicles have up to about seven years remaining on their 10-year certificates of entitlement, with some showing mileages of up to 90,000km.

Ownership transfer not allowed: LTA

According to the LTA spokesperson, the scrapped vehicles were registered under the "EV Sharing Scheme".

Under the scheme, ownership transfer of such vehicles for any purpose other than the electric car rental trial scheme is not allowed.

Mothership has reached out to BlueSG and Tribecar for comment.
