LTA impounded 11 vehicles over 3 weeks for providing illegal cross-border rides
Another round of enforcement action.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) recently caught 11 drivers in Singapore providing illegal cross-border ride-hailing services over a three-week period.
They were caught at land checkpoints, as well as at Fernvale Road and Mandai Road, LTA said on Dec. 18.
All their vehicles were impounded.
The tip-offs amid the ongoing enforcement efforts were from the National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA) and National Taxi Association (NTA), LTA said in a social media update on Dec. 18.
Since July 2025, LTA said it has checked over 2,700 vehicles to protect passenger safety and interests of licensed drivers.
Over this period of time, 152 vehicles have been impounded, according to Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling, who also provided an update in a social media post on the same day.
Sun wrote : "You can book licensed cross-border taxis in Singapore by ComfortDelGro, Strides Premier, Trans-Cab and Prime."
"They offer both fixed-point (Ban San Street) and doorstep pickup options anywhere in Singapore, with drop-offs at Larkin Sentral Terminal, Johor," she added.
Drivers caught providing illegal ride-hailing services face up to S$3,000 fines, or up to six months’ jail, or both, and possible vehicle forfeiture.
Those who spot illegal ride-hailing services can report them online.
