JB couple caught by M'sia religious police in room full of used condoms, says they are 'just friends'
They also said that they had intentions to get married.
A woman in her 20s and a boy in his teens were arrested in Johor Bahru (JB), Malaysia for the alleged offence of "khalwat", or close proximity.
In a Facebook reel, the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) said that officers acting on a public tip-off caught the couple following an enforcement check at a rented house at 2:30am.
Boy found naked under covers
According to JAINJ, authorities had been alerted to the case at a two-storey house which had been subdivided into rented rooms.
Upon arrival, officers found several rooms in the house and knocked on each door.
A woman subsequently opened the door to one bedroom while clad in shorts and a tight t-shirt.
Officers spotted a man lying on the bed covered with a blanket, with only his head visible.
When asked to get up, he did not do so as he was completely naked.
The couple later claimed that they were "just friends" and were not lawfully wedded.
JAINJ confirmed that they hailed from other states but were working in JB.
Multiple condoms found, woman had rented the room
Officers who inspected the area found condoms scattered everywhere, including several boxes containing condoms of different brands, colours and flavours.
Used condoms were also found around and under the bed.
When asked who bought the condoms, the woman admitted that she had bought them.
The woman also said that she had rented the room at RM500 (S$158) per month.
She had reportedly returned from work at 5pm that day, with the boy arriving at around midnight later.
According to JAINJ, they had assumed the other tenants did not know of his presence in the room.
However, public complaints suggested that the boy had come to the room "many times before".
The couple also said that they had intentions to get married.
