A Korean man on a Vietjet Air flight who was arrested after allegedly harassing a Vietnamese woman was seen kneeling on the ground in "distress", with videos of the incident sparking criticism from netizens.

The Chosun Daily reported that the incident occurred on flight VJ982, which was scheduled to depart Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and arrive at Gimhae International Airport, Busan, South Korea, at 6:55 am on Dec. 14.

However, the flight was delayed and landed at around 8:20 am instead. The cause of the delay was not disclosed.

Dragged off

This comes after the Korean man reportedly attempted to make inappropriate physical contact with the Vietnamese woman sitting next to him, Joseilbo reported, adding that he also supposedly harassed her with "strange language".

A video of the incident was posted on Facebook page Khu phố bất ổn, which showed the man being lifted from his seat by officers, according to The Chosun Daily.

However, he continued to resist in an attempt to avoid being dragged off the plane.

He was later seen standing in front of the arrival hall and speaking to airport staff while holding his carry-on bag.

According to another Korean news site v.daum.net, the man was wearing a white shirt with the Korean flag on it.

Netizen reactions

In response to this incident, angry Vietnamese netizens told the man to go back to his country.

One netizen who claimed to be on the same flight as the man initially thought the woman he reportedly harassed was his girlfriend, but realised she was too shocked by his behaviour.

Korean netizens were also outraged by his behaviour, telling him to apologise for his behaviour and expressing how ashamed they were as Koreans.
