BlueSG to 'pause' car-sharing services on Aug. 8 at 11:59pm, new service to launch in 2026

BlueSG will pause its current car-sharing service on Aug. 8, 11:59pm, as it moves towards a new service.

According to its Aug. 4 press release, the new service is slated to launch in 2026, with a newer range of vehicles, new generation car-sharing ecosystem, and powered by an expanded network of pick-up and drop-off points.

It said the new launch will be drawing on "valuable lessons" from being Singapore's first electric car-sharing service.

Current users welcomed back

For current BlueSG users, billing, account closures, subscription adjustments and refunds will be managed until Aug. 31, 2025, the press release added.

It said: "BlueSG is committed to ensuring a transparent, efficient and smooth process for users, with clear communications, timely updates, and dedicated customer support throughout the process."

No other details about the new service were given.

In response to Mothership's queries, BlueSG said email support will remain available until Oct. 1, 2025 to address any remaining issues or follow-ups.

The press release added that BlueSG users can look forward to be welcomed back with exclusive privileges at the launch of the new service.

Current infrastructure needs to be upgraded

Keith Kee, CEO of BlueSG, noted that the current BlueSG infrastructure needed to be upgraded to keep up with the evolving landscape and potential scale of car-sharing users:

"That's why we're taking bold steps not to pause, minimise distractions and focus our resources on delivering a completely new platform. It puts users at the centre by delivering unprecedented efficiency, reliability, scalability, and a completely reimagined users experience."

The press release added that the upgraded service will feature "advance technology, deep expertise, and enhanced operational capabilities".

Updates on the new service, like timeline, features, and launch plans, will be announced in the upcoming months.
