Man, 22, allegedly stole motorcycle at Raffles Place, arrested within 5 hours of report
The stolen motorcycle was recovered.
A 22-year-old man was arrested within five hours of a police report being lodged about a motorcycle getting stolen.
The police said they received a report that a motorcycle parked at a car park along Raffles Place was stolen at about 5:20am on Nov. 14.
The man's identity was established and he was arrested with the aid of surveillance and police cameras.
The stolen motorcycle was recovered, while the clothes worn by the suspect at the time of the offence was seized as case exhibits.
To be charged on Nov. 15
The man will be charged in court on Nov. 15, 2025.
The offence of theft of a motor vehicle carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.
The police advised all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
a. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
b. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
c. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
d. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
e. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
f. Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
