A man in Taiwan, who lost his job, allegedly got into an argument with his wife and later fatally stabbed her 21 times, before killing their six-month-old child as well.

The tragic incident happened on Jul. 9, 2024, according to ETtoday.

Stabbed wife 21 times

The 42-year-old man, surnamed Liao, allegedly got into an argument with his wife, surnamed Liu, over financial issues and differences in parenting styles.

They were believed to have been married since 2023 and their son was born in January 2024.

The couple worked for different technology companies in Taipei, but Liu was laid off due to her pregnancy.

After Liao was also laid off at the end of 2023, the family of three reportedly had to rely on their parents for support.

It is believed that financial issues and conflicts over matters, such as parenting styles, culminated in a huge conflict between the couple.

On the day of the incident, the couple had gotten into another argument when Liao allegedly lost his temper.

He allegedly stabbed Liu 21 times with a knife, causing her to collapse and bleed to death.

Strangled son

Police investigations later revealed that Liao drove out alone for a while, but returned home to pick up his six-month-old son.

He was spotted on CCTV arriving at the Macao Bridge in Yangmingshan at around 3pm before parking his car in an open area, and getting out with his child in his arms.

Surveillance footage showed him pacing back and forth along the bridge for over an hour, appearing dazed and unsteady on his feet, ETtoday reported.

It is believed that he went back to his car and strangled his son with a strap inside the car, causing him to suffocate to death.

When police found the vehicle around 7pm, both father and son were dead.

As Liao had also passed on, the murder of his son could not be prosecuted.
