S'pore magician, 35, fined S$6,000 for pouring beer on videographer’s equipment after quarrel over prices
The magician performed at an event which the videographer was filming.
Following a disagreement over the price for performance footage, a magician poured beer over a videographer's equipment in a fit of anger.
The magician, 35-year-old Hong Weijie (transliteration), was fined S$6,000 by the courts and ordered to cough up S$3,494.50 in compensation.
Had history of quarrel
According to Shin Min Daily News, Hong and the videographer were both at an event on May 15, 2025 at around 8:30pm.
Hong was invited to perform, while the videographer was hired to film the event.
The two had previously quarrelled while working together in the past.
As such, Hong requested from the videographer the raw footage the event, but the two were unable to agree on a price.
Later that night, the two got into an altercation.
Fit of anger
Despite attempts by others to quell the fight, Hong was unable to contain his anger and poured a bottle of beer over the videographer’s equipment.
This resulted in damages costing S$3,494.50.
The videographer was not able to fully account for the cost of all damages, Shin Min reported.
The videographer took Hong to court and sought compensation.
Hong pleaded guilty to one count of mischief and was handed a S$6,000 fine on Nov. 13.
The court also ordered Hong to compensate the videographer the amount in damages, which were substantiated by receipts.
