When’s the best time to indulge in Lindt chocolate? ‘Anytime,’ according to my colleagues.

Everyone loves chocolate, right?

I know I do.

Recently, for fun, at 11:24am on a work day, I asked a bunch of my colleagues when they thought would be a good time to eat chocolate.

I had started to munch on some at 11:20am for no apparent reason other than because I had chocolate on my table.

So, sharing the results of the poll:

Poll: When do you eat chocolate?

The choices were not supposed to be exhaustive, but they covered a variety of scenarios where a piece of chocolate could come in handy.

Without fail, my colleagues responded within minutes.

I also received text messages from some of them saying things like, “If you have chocolate you should share. Selfish.”

Regardless, the poll’s most popular choice was: Anytime.

Clearly, many people also thought it is okay to eat chocolate when you feel like it.

Sharing is caring

Since democracy works, I asked those who share similar sentiments as me to taste-test the latest line of chocolates from Lindt: Lindt Extra Creamy Milk, Hazelnut, and Dark Chocolates.

This new range of chocolate bars from Lindt are shaped in distinctive waves that deliver a velvety rich texture.

With a history spanning over 180 years, Lindt’s founder Rodolphe Lindt revolutionised chocolate-making by inventing a technique known as “conching” in the 19th century that produces the most flavoursome chocolate with a silky smooth, velvety texture that has since become synonymous with Lindt.

The technique involved heating and vigorously beating the chocolate mass to produce the creamy, velvety texture of Lindt chocolate.

The verdict?

Different people like different kinds of chocolate – equally.

Lindt Extra Creamy Milk Chocolate (Available in 80g & 35g bars)

For one colleague, who is from the “milk chocolates for life” camp, the Lindt Extra Creamy Milk Chocolate hits different.

“It is really smooth when it melts in your mouth,” she said, with her mouth full of chocolate.

She thought that the texture was reminiscent of a thickened sauce, with equal hints of milk and cacao.

“I could eat this for breakfast with overnight oats,” she said, before clarifying that she does not do that, or at least not regularly.

But she could start now.

Lindt Extra Creamy Hazelnut Chocolate (Available in 80g bars)

If there is one thing this colleague of mine likes, it is savoury-sweet treats.

For her, the Lindt Extra Creamy Hazelnut Chocolate hits the savoury-sweet spot as the bits of nuts add a surprising crunch.

“I like the taste of both flavours mixing. It made the taste very addictive,” she said.

The hazelnut was also flavourful and evenly spread out for the optimal balance, she added.

The bubble-shaped waviness of the chocolate and the extra bits of hazelnut elevated the mouthfeel experience, she said.

Lindt Extra Creamy Dark Chocolate (Available in 80g & 35g bars)

While milk chocolate has its fans, so does dark chocolate.

A dark chocolate lover colleague said Lindt Extra Creamy Dark Chocolate was the smoothest dark chocolate she has tasted.

“The intensity of the cacao really comes through because it is less sweet than the milk chocolate version,” she said.

“The richness is special,” she added.

Whether you prefer your milk chocolates with milk or hazelnuts, Lindt Extra Creamy chocolates are available at all good supermarkets in Singapore.
