Isetan at Tampines Mall closes after 30 years, staff & customers say goodbye as shutters close for last time
Bye bye.
Isetan Singapore has closed its outlet at Tampines Mall on Nov. 9, marking the end of a 30-year run following the expiry of its lease agreement.
The department store had been an anchor tenant in Tampines Mall since its opening back in 1996.
Farewell by staff members
A TikTok on Nov. 10 captured the emotional farewell, showing Isetan staff saying goodbye to their customers as the store closed for the last time.
According to the user who posted the video, staff waited until their last customer left at around 9:40pm on Sunday, Nov. 9 before bidding farewell.
Several shoppers were also seen gathered outside the store, waving and exchanging goodbyes with the employees.

Farewell speech
A female staff member, whom the TikTok user described as the "boss" of the Tampines outlet, delivered a short farewell speech thanking customers for their long-standing support.
"It is our pleasure to serve you," she said, before encouraging customers to visit Isetan's remaining outlets at Shaw House and NEX.
She then ended the speech with, "Hope to see you again! Goodnight! Thank you!"
The shutters to the store were slowly lowered, and staff and customers waved to each other one last time.
